Lego kits from new zealand to the world
Brick Store

Helping their customers discover and purchase LEGO products online and then delighting them with an after-sales service experience where only the best is good enough.

Brick Store sends Lego kits to their customers around the world, processing 30-40 orders per day.

Why were we wasting our time?

Before 3DBINPACKING
Using eye sight to choose which box for packing

Brick Store always wants to use the smallest possible box, and in the past we used trial and error based on sight alone.

Each package could take 5 minutes to pack and repack. And bigger boxes cost more money and can cost more to ship.

As a growing business, Brick Store moved to third-party logistics and were told that they would also use sight to decide which box to use. They needed a way to tell the third-party logistics which box to use with every order.

Integration with shopify
Automatically optimized packing solution

Brick Store now imports their Shopify orders and runs them through the custom processor that they integrated with 3DBP’s Pack a Shipment tool API. Each order goes to the 3PL provide with the right box chosen and packing instructions.

The fact that our system now sends the box size to our 3PL provider along with the order is a MASSIVE advantage. It’s always 100% accurate.

Accuracy at its best
The benefits observed

1

It’s always 100% accurate. Reducing costs is the ultimate goal, and accuracy of the 3DBP system helps us achieve that.

2

Assessment of the 3PL performance - remarkable.

Trust the algorithm
When I was shopping for 3PL, I asked them all how they determine the box size to use and they all said 'on sight alone,' which seems hugely inefficient as it’s not possible to introduce a new staff member and have them know what box to use. 3DBP helped us sort it out.
